ENHANCING LOCAL COMMUNITY BENEFITS THROUGH STRENGTHENING THE CONNECTION OF THE GREEN PRODUCTION SECTOR WITH SUSTAINABLE CONSUMPTION TO PROMOTE HERITAGE CONSERVATION AND SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES.

Hanoi, October 26, 2024, at the Imperial Citadel Center of Thang Long – Hanoi, UNESCO signed a new cooperation agreement with IMEXCO, a partner from the private business sector. This event took place in a series of activities commemorating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of UNESCO representative office in Vietnam, with the participation of Mr. Firmin Edouard Matoko – UNESCO Assistant Director General for African Priorities and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jonathan Baker – Chief Representative of UNESCO in Vietnam along with leaders of agencies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Science & Technology, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and UNESCO partners.

The goal of the partnership program is to implement actions to strengthen heritage protection capacity and green production practices. Aiming to raise awareness and sustainable consumption practices of community groups and organizations living in Vietnam’s diverse cultural and natural heritage space.

Activities include organizing dialogue forums to support improving the quality of products of local manufacturers and domestic manufacturers associated with cultural heritage and natural heritage. Transform awareness and action in sustainable production and consumption and document sustainable practices to demonstrate the contribution to protecting and preserving heritage in the development process.

Direct beneficiaries of this project will include the local community, especially businesses and workers living in cultural and natural heritage sites recognized by UNESCO.
